Printed matter transport (publication transport)
Transports are planned separately for each customer to support the logistical solution Itella provides for the publication in question. Our service solutions for the domestic transport needs of publications cover all ground and air transports needed.
Our extensive transportation network allows us to deliver printed matter in a cost-effective manner and on the agreed schedule from printing or mailing houses to Itella's terminal, to delivery dispatch points or to a separately specified delivery address.
The service suits the transport service scheduled on the publication's terms, characterized by a short delivery time, throughout Finland.
| Destination Countries | Finland (excluding Åland) |
| Delivery Time | The time of transport is agreed on in a contract with the customer. The pickup and delivery times of separate orders are agreed on at the time the order is placed. |
| Maximum Weight | Depending on the selected transport unit, 250 – 1,000kg. |
| Maximum Dimensions | Maximum height 210cm from the ground, the length and width vary by transport unit. |
| Indications and Codes | The transport document (waybill) must be attached to each transport batch. The transport document must contain all information specified in the Act on ground transports. |
| Sending | The deliveries are picked up based on a separate agreement or a one-off order. An order for a one-off pickup placed on the day of the pickup must be made no later than 12 noon by calling 0200 92000. Transport units include: 0.6 x 0.8m pallets, regular pallets and Itella's rolltainers and cages. |
| Track and Trace | Deliveries are tracked per transport unit using the transport unit identification. Tracking requires that the printing or mailing house has implemented the Itella RCC2 optimization program. |
| Receiving | Shipments are delivered to the address(es) agreed on with the customer in a contract or to a delivery address specified in a separate order. If the address marking on the shipment is incomplete, the recipient refuses the shipment or the recipient cannot be reached, the delivery will be returned to the sender specified in the transport document. A contract customer is charged a transport fee and possible additional charges for the returned delivery. |
| Pricing | Contract pricing. The pricing is based on the quantity of the shipments to be transported, time spent on completing the service, transport distance and time of service. A service-specific fuel surcharge applies in pricing in accordance with the cost index of road transport of goods / fuel factor by Statistics Finland. The pricing in air transports is based on the flight connection and the weight of shipments in kilograms transported on the flight. A fuel and freight surcharge is added to the air transport prices. The surcharge is the same as the surcharge the airline charges Itella. |
| Payment Methods | The billing and payment terms are specified in the customer agreement between the Customer and Itella. |
| Delivery Terms | The service requires a separate contract. |
| Other Specifications | The air transport service is a value-added service for publications, subject to a charge, and is provided as an air freight service. The current air freight liability terms apply to the service. An overnight service is possible through air transport in connections where this service level cannot be provided by means of ground transport. |
