Registration, international letters (additional service) / Registered letter

Registration can be used if you need a receipt of having posted an item. The item is handed over to the addressee or a person authorised by the addressee only against a signature. The identity of the addressee is always verified.

Delivery Time

International letters are delivered at the same speed as Priority letters:

  • Nordic countries 2–4 working days
  • Rest of Europe 3–10 working days
  • Rest of the world 5–10 working days

The estimates do not include the time required by possible customs clearance.
Maximum Dimensions
  • Length + width + thickness 900mm; however, maximum length 600mm.
  • For tubular items, maximum length + (diameter x2) 1,040mm; however, maximum length 900mm.
Minimum Dimensions
  • 90mm x 140mm.
  • For tubular items, minimum length 100mm, minimum length + (diameter x2) 170mm.
Indications and Codes

International Registered letters are equipped with an address label for domestic Registered letters, with the advice of arrival section detached. Letters containing goods sent to EU countries do not require a separate customs declaration. The green customs label (CN 22) must be used for items to destinations outside the EU and in special regions outside the EU excise and value-added tax region. If the item’s value exceeds €300, complete the required number of the larger customs declarations (CN 23) in a language understood in the destination country.
Sending

Letters can be mailed at a postal outlet, sorting centre or terminal. Itella can also pick up Registered letters from the sender (a service subject to a charge).

Registered letters may not be dropped into a postbox.
Track and Trace

You can track the status of an item with the tracking code included in the item or address label either through the tracking system or by calling our Customer service.

For international items, tracking is available to Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
