Priority letter is a fast basic service for letters whose mailing needs to be efficient and easy. Priority letters are always delivered to the destination country using fast connections, usually by air.

  • Rest of Europe 3–6 working days
  • Rest of the world: major cities 4–10 working days; other destinations: no estimate

Sending

Items can dropped off at a postal outlet or the reception of a sorting centre or picked up by Itella’s pick-up service. The items must be marked on a mailing list.

Letters containing goods sent to EU countries do not require a separate customs declaration. The green customs label (CN 22) must be used for mailings to destinations outside the EU and in special regions outside the EU excise and value-added tax region. If the item’s value exceeds €300, complete the required number of the larger customs declarations (CN 23) in a language understood in the destination country.

Receiving

Priority letters are delivered to the adressee on a standard delivery round; no signature required.

Delivery, contract and product terms

Retaining

If an item cannot be delivered, a notice of arrival will be left with the addressee. The item will be stored at a postal outlet, Poste Restante or P.O. Box for a period ranging from two weeks to two months, depending on the country. Undelivered items will be returned to the sender. The reason for the failure of delivery will be marked on the item.

Restrictions as to Content

Always send cash, securities, valuables and means of payment as well as gemstones, jewellery, precious metals and other particularly valuable items as an Insured letter. We recommend sending items of particular value as a Registered letter.

Other Specifications

Itella will not pay compensation for loss, damage or delay of items.
