Letter with advice of delivery
A proof of posting and delivery as well as delivery to the addressee against a signature.
The letter with advice of delivery is suitable for sending credit and other cards, SIM cards and pre-paid cards. It can also be used for sending official decisions, summonses and invitations. The sender receives a receipt when mailing a letter with advice of delivery. The sender will receive advice of delivery to the addressee or a person authorised by the addressee.
Advice of delivery is an additional service for Priority letter when Port Payé payment method or Pricing service is used.

| Indications and Codes | A letter with advice of delivery must carry an address label for a letter with advice of delivery, including an identifying tracking barcode. If EDI messages are used when posting a letter with Advice of delivery, the item should not bear an address label; instead, a large red ‘R’ should be printed on the envelope. In such cases, the item’s tracking barcode is visible through the window of the envelope. |
| Sending | Letters with advice of delivery can be mailed at a postal outlet, sorting centre or terminal. They may not be dropped into a postbox. Itella can also pick up letters with savice of delivery from the sender (a service subject to a charge). |
| Track and Trace | Deliveries can be tracked using the tracking code attached to the item, through the Track & Trace service or by contacting Customer services. |
| Receiving | A notification of arrival is delivered to the addressee. Items are only handed over at the delivery address against signature of the addressee or a person authorised by the addressee. If the sender specifies that the item may only be delivered to the addressee, no one else is authorised to receive it. |

Letters that cannot have been handed over to the addressee will be retained at the postal outlet for two (2) full calendar weeks in addition to the week of arrival. Thereafter items will be sent back to the sender. The notice of arrival indicates the deadline for picking up the delivery from the outlet. A second notice of arrival will not be sent.
Forwarding from outlet to outlet will not extend the combined retention period at different outlets. |
